Silver City, CT Special Event

P6

Silver City Quarter Midget Club, Hanover Road, Meriden, CT, USA

This was a very special event. Racing at my moms home track when she ran quarter midgets!

This event is what racing is all about. My mom stated racing at the Silver City race track in Meriden Connecticut when she was about my age. She was very successful and my Grandpa was excited to bring me there to race where they spent so much of my mother's childhood.

The people there were so helpful and it was incredible to find out how many people my mom races with that are still there racing with their kids now. All the people at this track were very helpful and we appreciated everything they did for us to be able to race there.

We were also very fortunate to make it on track at all. It seemed like it was going to rain out both Friday for practice and Saturday for the feature. Both days rained in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon.

Friday I was able to get on track and practice a lot in the afternoon. My grandfather and dad were very impressed I was able to pick up the line so quickly. This track feels so cool. We tried a few things and ran over 100 laps. We felt great going on to Saturday if the rain held out.

Saturday we showed up and got started as soon as rain let up. We didn't qualify and started 8th in the first race of the day. A lot of my family from NY and Connecticut came to see me, I was very nervous as I took to the track. After struggling to pass, I fell back and got lapped. A caution came out and allowed me to get collected. I went back green with determination and worked hard to set up a pass and made a really nice one that my dad was very proud of. We have been working on passing and it was fun to make it work.

After the race I knew I didnt do my best but it was an amazing learning experience and I hope to get to come back again.
