Our first time at NGQMA for Dixie event. Made the A main from heat races.

Due to the initial event date being rained out, they moved the NGQMA Dixie to Nov 2nd and after all the NCQMA events. Because of this we decided to rent a trailer and give it a try.
Heat races have not been our friend and being at a new track we were worried but needed the experience to get better.
In the first practice and the first time on track we were trying to run a line similar to our NCQMA line and we needed to turn in much later. Because of entering the corner too soon we pushed up and hit the wall flat with our right side twice. No major damage.
In the second practice we got some help with the line and changed the RS tires. This practice was much better. We had good speed and balance. We were excited to see what we would do in the heat races.
Heat Race: we had 16 blue rookies and we started 5th in our heat race. We made some good passes and with one final pass before the end we finished in 2nd. WOW!! We were so excited and with 55 passing point WE MADE THE A MAIN. 16 rookies required a C and B main. We were slated to start 4th in the A main.
After helping our fellow NCQMA drivers in their lower main, we were ready to start our feature. Starting 4th is not something we have done a lot. So we tried to learn from other races for how to make the most out of it. The drop of the green the second place car didnt take off and we fell all the way back to 6th. We did a great job making passes, some of my best. We got to 4th and with a little too much confidence, we tried to make a pass on 3rd. We rushed the pass and tried to do it on entry. We were way late making the move and spun out the 3rd place car. They put us to the back and we realized we had some damage from the contact. With only a few laps left and not having our best speed we could only get 7th.
What a great learning experience and we had some real speed so that makes it a very good event. Hope to come back soon as this track is a lot of fun.
