Championship Series #7

P2

North Carolina Quarter-Midget Association Track, Salisbury, NC, USA

Back to our home track with a 2nd place finish

After getting to race at a new track it was great to be back at our home track NCQMA. I get to see all my friends and play.

Today was batch qualifying. This puts us in groups of red rookies to run our fastest times. Typically there are only 4 cars on track at one time in any class. The biggest thing to learn in this qualifying and that I am working on is spacing. This requires me to get enough gap to other cars so I dont run up on them and slow myself down trying to pass.

I was able to qualify 8th out of the 14 cars that were here today.

This put me starting 3rd in the 2nd red rookie race. Third is nice being on the inside. I made the most of it and got to 2nd on the start. Two different cars running third tried to get by me but I was able to hold them off. In this division we are still all learning and working on being confident to make a pass. I was running a good line and was able to hold off each of their attempts to pass to hang on to 3rd. It was a good race for me but the leader was in his own class today so we will go back to work to try and find more speed.
