Championship Series #10

Sep 28, 2024

Qualified 5th of 12; Started 3rd in 1st race; Finished 3rd

North Carolina Quarter-Midget Association Track, Salisbury, NC, USA

Second Blue plate race and we came with some speed.

Grateful the rain stayed away today and we were able to race. Some of our competitors couldn't make it because they had damage from the storm. We all prayed for them to be okay. I hope they get everything fixed and back to the track soon.

We didnt get to practice on Friday. So we got up early and and headed out to make sure we got practice. Not much changes from the last race and we practiced a little slower than we ran last. I was struggling to get to the white line, I think because it was tight. We discussed what I was feeling and why I wasnt able to run the better line. Grandpa and Dad went to work to try and get some speed back. I went up to watch some of the other drivers and learn from their line as well. Everything is so different from the RED plate.

Qualifying for this event was single car. That means you go out on the track with no other cars. You run five laps and the last two are the timed ones that will set your qualifying. We were 5th out of the 12 blue rookies. That was pretty good and I was able to feel the changes that were made.

We still wanted more so my crew change a few more things. They split us in to two features. Based on that we started 3rd in the first Blue feature. Second place got in there and I fell in to 3rd. Our race is 20 laps and I was able to hunt 1st and 2nd down and stay with them the whole race. I kept trying different lines but never could set up for a pass. There was a caution and the leaders got together on the restart. As they corrected I got nervous and decided not to try and pass them. I stayed with them again but still never could make a clean set up for a pass.

All in all the car was really fast and I learned a lot. First blue podium was amazing and Im excited to run again on 10/19.
